Nida Ibrahim, another Al Jazeera correspondent in the West Bank, said the occupiers shot and killed journalist Shirin Abu Akleh while covering the Israeli operation in Jenin.

“All we know so far is that the Palestinian Ministry of Health has declared her (Shirin) dead,” he said. Shirin was covering the events in Jenin, especially the Israeli raid on a town in the northern part of the occupied West Bank. At that moment, he was shot in the head.

According to Nida Ibrahim, this is a big shock for journalists working with Shirin.

According to The Washington Post, Shirin Abu Akleh was shot dead. Another Palestinian journalist working for the Jerusalem-based Al-Quds newspaper was injured. His condition is now stable.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said there were casualties in the Israeli shelling. Israel did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
