– On-demand packaging platform and AI-powered ERP software digitize ordering, quoting and sales
– Global Startup Commercialization Support Program helps with staffing, marketing, entry into new markets and investor connections
Provotive, led by Austrian CEO Dominik Danninger, is working to digitize the packaging industry while expanding its business into overseas markets, including Japan.
While managing supply chains for several national pavilions at the 2018 Olympics, Danninger found it difficult to source custom packaging in the quantities needed. That experience led him to develop an on-demand platform where brands can design and order packaging online. He later expanded the business to include customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, along with AI-based solutions, to help suppliers manage quotes and sales.

◇ Digitizing packaging, from ordering to quoting and sales management
Danninger said traditional packaging procurement involves extensive back-and-forth, with an average of 50 to 70 interactions between a brand and a sales team before a single quote is issued.
Provotive is simplifying the process by connecting online packaging orders with packaging companies’ quoting and sales management. It has also begun expanding into Japan and has signed a contract with its first local supplier.
◇ Commercialization and overseas expansion through the Global Startup Commercialization Support Program
Through its participation in the Global Startup Commercialization Support Program, Provotive is working to commercialize its products and enter new markets.
Danninger said resources secured through the program are being used for team operations, staffing, business needs and marketing. In particular, the support is helping the company test new markets, including Japan, and expand further into them.
“Having additional funding to test new markets and expand further into them is very important,” he said.
The company also received support for its fundraising efforts. Through a venture capital matchmaking event, Provotive presented its business to investors and held several meetings. It also received a list of venture capital firms suited to the Series A funding round it is currently preparing.
“Connecting with the right investors has been a great help as we prepare for our Series A,” Danninger said. “We were able to have productive meetings with firms that are a good fit for this funding round.”

◇ Beyond Japan to Southeast Asia and Europe, with the goal of becoming a global packaging company
Provotive plans to expand beyond South Korea and Japan into Southeast Asia and then Europe. It aims to bring its business model to overseas markets, connecting brands with packaging suppliers and digitizing ordering, quoting and sales management.
“We are looking beyond South Korea and Japan,” Danninger said. “I want to expand into Southeast Asia and then Europe to build a truly global company.”
“Ultimately, I want us to become a unicorn in the packaging industry,” he added. “My goal is to build the first unicorn founded by a foreign entrepreneur in South Korea.”
