Ken, CEO of CUBIKA Korea, is working to localize CUBIKA, a solution specializing in data security and quality management, for South Korea. He has spent 20 years building data systems and working on data security and AI security projects.

Ken said he developed CUBIKA after identifying problems with data quality, cleansing and security as businesses adopted AI.

◇ From data management and cleansing to security

CUBIKA focuses on managing, cleansing and protecting enterprise data. It also provides features to help companies comply with regulations such as the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Ken said anonymizing and protecting data helps companies avoid breaching relevant regulations when using it.

◇ Korean-language localization through the Global Startup Commercialization Support Program

CUBIKA Korea is participating in the Global Startup Commercialization Support Program.

Ken said the program helped CUBIKA Korea get its business started and that the company is using the funding to localize its product.

Localization goes beyond translating the user interface and user experience into Korean. The company is also working to enable its AI and data entity recognition systems to process Korean-language data and identify problems within it.

In particular, it is improving Korean-language processing so the system can correctly understand data that mixes Hangul and Latin characters. Ken said university researchers are helping with this work.

“Simply translating the language is not enough to make the service work properly in the market,” Ken said. “We are using the funding to localize the service and help it understand Korean more deeply.”

◇ Focusing on South Korea for three years, then expanding to Japan, North America and Europe

CUBIKA Korea plans to focus on South Korea over the next three years. Its goal is to grow the Korean entity, particularly in the government and healthcare sectors.

If it successfully expands its business in South Korea, it then plans to use the country as a main base for entering Japan, North America and Europe.

“If we succeed in Korea, we can use it as a main base to enter Japan, North America and Europe,” Ken said. “I think the support and guidance from the Global Startup Commercialization Support Program are helping us move in the right direction.”
