Resolving Avast installation error

Restart your computer

Installation error occurs when your device meets any runtime error. The runtime error can occur due to any reason. But you can easily fix the runtime errors by restarting the device. On the PC, close all the running applications. Now go to the Start button and hit Restart. After restarting, open the downloads folder and run the Avast setup. Your Avast program will start installing on the computer. Now, wait until the Avast installation process completes. After Avast installation, restart the computer and run a full system scan.

Get a compatible Avast setup

Check the resource requirements of your Avast plan. If the Avast plan is not compatible with your device then cancel the subscription and request for Avast refund. Now purchase a compatible antivirus program on your device. If you are facing an installation error while transferring the license, check for the resource requirements. Every Avast program has certain resource requirements. You can transfer to the Avast program but only to the same platform.

Remove existing antivirus from the device

When you already have an antivirus on the PC, remove it before installing the Avast setup. You should not install multiple antiviruses on the device. On the PC, go to the Apps folder and check the list of installed applications. Choose the antivirus program and tap on the Uninstall button. Remove all other security programs (even expired) from the device. If you have an expired Avast setup, use the Avast uninstall tool to remove the program completely from the device. After removing all security programs, restart the computer. Run the Avast setup and install your antivirus.

Increase free hard-disk space

Like other applications, the Avast program also requires some free hard-disk space to install and run. If your Avast program is not working, you should immediately check the free hard-disk space. If the free space on your PC is very low then you need to increase it. You can add an SSD to your computer for increasing hard-disk space. Otherwise, you can increase the space by removing large files. Check your PC for unnecessary files like movies, videos, etc. Remove these files as they acquire a large amount of space on the device. Now recheck the free space on the PC. Click on Avast setup and start installing it on your device.

Check junk from the PC

Installation errors can appear when the system has acquired lots of junk. The junk does not cause any harm to the device but uses lots of free space. Some junk files may also start interrupting other programs. These files often interrupt the installation process. Before installing any program on the device, you should remove the junk. Start checking with temp files; type %temp% in the run bar and tap the Enter button. Now select all files and delete them. After removing temp files, open the drive’s folder and start searching for unnecessary and unused files. Delete all those files from the computer. On Windows devices, you can remove the junk using a clean manager tool. Open the run bar and type cleanmgr. Run this Windows utility tool and it will start searching for junk. Wait until you see a list of items on the screen. Check items to remove from the device and hit on the Okay button. All junk files will be removed from the computer. Now restart the device and retry to install Avast antivirus.

Update your Windows device

Applications will show problems if the OS is not updated. When a device is running out of date, certain processes slow down and start showing issues. Before installing your antivirus, you must check for the OS update. Open Update & Security tab; click on Update button. Windows will take a few seconds to check for the update. If the update is available, it will start installing on the PC. Restart the device to apply the updates. Now click on Avast setup and start installing on your device. After installing, open the Avast dashboard and run a system scan.
