Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today admitted that his wife lodged complaint against the travelling ticket examiner (TTE) who fined three individuals travelling without tickets and claimed to be the minister’s relatives.

He also admitted that the three passengers are his relatives.

The minister, however, said his wife did not ask the railway authorities to suspend the TTE.

“She should not have done this,” the minister said.

“The way the incident unfolded is embarrassing for me,” he added.

The minister also said he later came to know that the passengers are indeed her relatives but he was not aware about it till yesterday.

The minister was talking to journalists at his office in Rail Bhaban today amid controversy over the suspension of the TTE.

The authorities have decided to withdraw the suspension of the TTE, the minister said.
