Al Jazeera quoted Croatian state media as saying on Saturday.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordon Grilik-Radman also said he was aware of the detention of a Croatian national and was working with Ukrainian authorities on the situation. However, he declined to comment further on the issue, saying it was “sensitive”.

Meanwhile, a report aired on Croatian state television HRT said that the Croatian citizen had tried to flee Mariupol with Ukrainian fighters. But was captured by Russian troops.

Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. At the beginning of the operation, Russia intensified its military operations in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. But Russia has not been able to occupy Kiev for almost a month. At that time, the Russian forces faced strong resistance from the Ukrainian forces. Russia later said it would focus on operations in eastern Ukraine. Russia’s military operations are now centered around Danbas. About 5 million Ukrainians fled the war.
