Jan 1931 The Benz and Kreisel group (Wax Benz), later renamed to the Benz Motor Company, sets up a test drive system in Stuttgart, Germany, with a single 2.3-litre straight-eight engine. Nov. 1931 Mercedes-Benz began to manufacture automobiles on the basis of the test drive system. Dec. 1931 Benz introduces its first passenger car, the Daimler Phaeton, at the Amsterdam Motor Show. In 1931 Mercedes-Benz began to produce a 2.0-litre four-cylinder car. Mercedes-Benz debuts the first car equipped with an all-synchronised gearbox at the Paris Motor Show. A new badge-engineered version of the Benz Frua Passat with a 1.8-litre engine was launched at the same show.

Jan 1934 The first mass-produced car from Mercedes-Benz, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, is launched.
