On the occasion of the inauguration of the newly constructed two-storey building of Barhamganj United Club, a friendly football match was organized at the Elephant Garden Ground of the upazila on Thursday afternoon at the initiative of Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury (Dada Bhai) Smriti Sangsad of Shibchar, Madaripur.

In the match, Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury Smriti Sangsad defeated Rajshahi Kishore Football Academy 3-0 and became the champion. At the end of the match, Chief Whip of the National Assembly Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury MP handed over the trophy to the players of the winning team.
Madaripur District Council Administrator and Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury Smriti Sangsad President Munir Chowdhury, Shibchar Upazila Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Shajahan Mollah, Bir Muktijoddha Moslem Uddin Khan, Shibchar Upazila Chairman Abdul Latif Mollah, General Secretary Dr. Selim Mia.
Also present were Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury Smriti Sangsad General Secretary Awlad Hossain Khan, Shibchar Upazila Juba League President Ilias Pasha, General Secretary Md. Khairuzzaman Khan and Kazi Mohidul Islam, member secretary of the conference preparation committee of Dhaka Metropolitan Awami Fishermen’s League.
Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury MP said, “The teenagers have shown a very good quality game. The spectators were fascinated by their game. Hopefully, these will be the openers of the national team one day. Many teenagers in the country are now addicted to drugs. It is possible to solve the drug problem of the country through regular practice of playing on the field.
