Throughout 2018, God of War has been one of the best-selling PlayStation games and has garnered Game of the Year accolades. For both Sony Santa Monica and God of War: Ragnarok, the game’s creators, there isn’t much more to say about it that hasn’t already been said. God of War will soon be available to a wider audience thanks to a PC port, and they, too, should heed the gaming community’s counsel. God of War is a must-have regardless of platform.

In the nitty gritty of God of War on PC, you’ll discover a restricted (in terms of overall customisation) yet superb version. The PS4 and PS5 versions of God of War look fantastic, but the PC version truly shines. When compared to the 2018 edition, it’s frequently surprising to see how much better the images feel in this version.

From Kratos’ beard texture to the look of each Norse kingdom, every frame in God of War is crammed with fine details. The PC edition offers a more vivid and detailed experience; each frame is a visual treat. It’s hard not to be taken aback by the opening menu and intro sequence alone.

If you’re looking for an alternative to the PlayStation version, the PC version is a great option. 60 fps is a need for the game to succeed at higher levels and to fully enjoy the action on display. It’s possible, with a more powerful PC (or by lowering various setting sliders), to get a smoother frame rate of over 100 FPS.

Next-generation console gamers are realizing that 60 frames per second is a game-changing experience in reaction-based gaming, and PC gamers can easily reach that benchmark with God of War. However, it’s not obvious if customers’ systems are capable of pushing the visuals to 60 frames per second.

At this point, there are a few things to keep in mind when playing God of War on the PC. Although it does support ultrawide monitors, this is a feature that deserves praise in and of itself. Ultrawide support for God of War must have required a lot of work because it is exhibited as a single, unbroken image. We saw this firsthand in PC version of Days Gone, when the frame was stretched out to include more area where previously “hidden” loads or assets had been, but it was well worth it.

The PC version has V Sync, a frame rate restriction, and sliders for Film Grain and Motion Blur. The port’s great gem is its compatibility for DLSS, or Fidelity Super Resolution. Using either an NVIDIA or AMD GPU, users may take use of the resolution scaling features that help retain visual detail without sacrificing efficiency. If these features aren’t enabled in one of the game’s presets, the performance of God of War may suffer.

Texture Quality, Model Quality and Anisotropic Filter are all customizable, as are Shadows and Reflections and Atmospherics and Ambient Occlusion. Each category has two levels of entry: Low/Disable and all the way up to Ultra, with a few exceptions. Each category includes a ‘Original’ option, which lets the user to see the graphics as they appear on PlayStation, which is a nice feature. For those who want to get the most out of the game’s visuals, the original setting has been replaced with both High and Ultra settings.

Running everything at Ultra may not be appropriate for all PCs, depending on their resolution. Origin Neuron 4000D from Origin PC was tested by Game Rant, which achieved 4K resolution and 60FPS with all settings set to Ultra but DLSS enabled for the God of War (usually to Quality). DLSS isn’t required for the game to run at 60 or even 120 frames per second, but there are a number of parameters that can be tweaked to get there. Dropping from Ultra to 1440p on High, for example, achieved almost the same result as dropping from Ultra to High.

This is a version that raises the quality bar, even though it’s a PS4 game that’s been ported to PC. It should run at 4K Ultra and 60 frames per second without issue. Using DLSS or FidelityFX Super Resolution, modern PCs may greatly enhance the game’s visual quality.

It’s impossible to deny that God of War is an excellent video game provis cache key. Although the PC edition’s magic lifts an already wonderful game to new heights and adds some crucial features that allow it to run on a wide variety of current hardware, it is the PC port that truly shines. As long as gamers have the means to play God of War, even if it’s only a re-release of its PC version, they should do so.
