Under the new curriculum devised by IGNOU, in-skill training gained under the ‘Agnipath’ plan will account for 50% of the credits necessary for a graduate degree.
According to the Education Ministry, serving personnel of the armed services will be eligible to enroll in a three-year, skill-based bachelor’s degree program. It will recognize Agniveers’ talents developed while working for defense establishments.
The Union Cabinet approved a highly appealing initiative for young Indians to join the armed services during its meeting on Tuesday. The initiative is called “Agnipath,” and the selected kids are known as “Agniveers.” AGNIPATH is an initiative that allows devoted, patriotic young people to serve four years in the military. The “Agnipath” idea was created to foster a younger profile in the military.
According to a statement from the Education Ministry, this new bachelor’s degree program will consider the skills they gained while working in defense organizations.
According to the Ministry, skill training would account for half of the credits required for a graduate degree via this IGNOU-designed curriculum. History, politics, public administration, sociology, math, education, business, tourism, vocational studies, agriculture, Jyotish, and capacity enhancement courses in environmental studies and English communication skills will account for the remaining 50%.
According to the Education Ministry, the curriculum met the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 and adhered to UGC standards as well as the National Credit Framework and National Skill Qualification Framework.
There are also other ways to graduate, including an undergraduate certificate after finishing a second-year course, an undergraduate diploma after completing a first- and second-year course, and an undergraduate degree after successfully completing all courses within the three-year time limit.
The format of the program has been recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education and the National Council for Vocational Education and Training, two significant regulatory bodies. IGNOU will issue the degree in accordance with UGC nomenclature, and it will be valid both in India and abroad for education and work.
