As a business owner, you’re under constant pressure to create new content. Some content marketers say you should be posting something new every day!
So how do you balance those needs with all the other things you have to do for your business? You create a marketing strategy.
It will help you create digital content that converts, without making you feel overwhelmed. Learn how to do it, below.
Investigate Your Analytics
Before you go and reinvent the wheel in terms of your digital and social media content, figure out what’s already been working for you. What kind of posts do your clients like and interact with?
Both Facebook and Instagram make it easy to measure the success of your posts through likes, but likes aren’t the be-all-end-all. You also want to look at the number of impressions (how many people saw the post), the post engagement, and new vs. current followers (Instagram).
You can look at this information for each post, or go into their analytics portal to see large-scale data.
For non-social media content, like page design and website copy, look at your bounce rates. Time spent on-page is a great indicator of page or text quality. Wix and other common hosting sites will walk you through your best-performing pages.
Once you know what’s working for you, make those posts one of your core content clusters.
Create Core Content Types or Clusters
When creating a digital marketing strategy, there’s a fine line between consistent content creation and boring your audience.
You want them to know what kind of posts to expect from you while keeping the content fresh. How do you do that? Choose three or four types of content that you’ll share.
Examples could be
- Promotional posts
- Trending content (reels, Tiktoks)
- Product highlights
- Behind the scenes
- Community involvement
- Educative content
… and more. Decide how many posts you want to do a week, then divide those posts among your core categories.
Create Digital Content Once for Multiple Avenues
If you think you have to shoot a different piece of content for each platform, stop! That’s working hard, not working smart. You can easily take one piece of content and turn it into ten repurposed pieces.
For example, let’s say you do an interview talking about the digital marketing agency and benefits you’ve seen working with them. The video is 35 minutes long and you post it to YouTube.
You can then turn that video into
- A blog post talking about the experience
- A blog post of the transcript
- A podcast (audio only)
- Instagram post with a screenshot with a link to the video
- Facebook watch video
- Short clips for Reels, Tiktoks, etc
- and the list goes on!
