It’s been around 40 years since Osborne Computers released the world’s first laptop that weighed approx. 25 pounds with a whopping price label of $1799. Now, laptops are exceptionally fast with a lot of capabilities. They are, in fact, getting advanced more and more day by day and high-end models are now available at eye-watering prices with every feature you ever imagined. However, alongside different benefits, there are a number of drawbacks and risks whenever you buy a new laptop.

Power

Without a shadow of a doubt, desktop computers are significantly larger in size as compared to laptops. They offer an exceptional range of possibilities but they are quite powerful and consume a lot of power than even super-expensive laptops. Since a desktop needs huge power continuously but laptops can be charged once with any Cheap Adapter and give plentiful juice for many hours. More surprisingly, laptops use special processors and graphics card and still get a lower level of power to run smoothly.

However, we have to admit that laptops after all are backed by batteries which means they run out of battery anytime whereas this is not the issue with desktop computers.

Portability

The major benefit of having a laptop is that it’s too easier for a user to carry it from one place to another. They are small enough to fit in any laptop case with ease. A laptop’s portability, however, becomes a huge problem when they are stolen. Well, using a password can easily prevent illegal or unauthorized access.

Heat

As compared to desktop computers, laptops don’t offer multiple options to manage heat – thanks to their small size. Hence, an extra cooling pad or a USB Fan is needed to keep the machine cool which ultimately leads to the better health of a laptop or Notebook Battery. Be noted that managing the heat of a laptop is one of the major important factors especially when they are equipped with high-end graphics cards. Some laptops produce a lot of heat and it eventually decreases the lifetime of the machine.

What Else?

Laptops become hot in a matter of minutes since they sit on your lap which may lead to some serious health risks. There are a number of users who have already experienced different skin problems due to the laptop’s heat. It can be a great move to use a pad between the laptop and your body to minimize the health risks. Also, take into account the ergonomics of using a laptop. And importantly, be careful not to hurt your hands, back or wrists when using a laptop.
